New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: Sweet Magnolias Season 2, Reacher and Raised by Wolves

Starting with the freshest titles is always the way to go, so let’s jump into the best of what the streaming platforms have to offer! On Netflix, our favorite childhood girlfriends are back for another season of love and friendship in Sweet Magnolias season 2. If you’re looking for a crime thriller (or a hunky action star at which you can make heart eyes), check out Reacher on Amazon Prime Video, the exciting new series based on the hit Lee Child novels. The heartfelt romantic drama series Sweet Magnolias is back for its second season on Netflix this weekend. The series picks back up with the three childhood best friends — Maddie Townsend (Swisher), Dana Sue Sullivan (Elliott), and Helen Decatur (Headley) — as they continue to try to build successful lives and careers in their town of Serenity, South Carolina. New relationships, old wounds and local politics all contribute to the drama the Magnolias face in this new season, especially as they lean on each other in the wake of Kyle Townsend’s (Allen) car accident from last season. Full of love, friendship and all the gooey stuff that comes with it, Sweet Magnolias is one of the best new shows on Netflix this month.

Lee Child’s Jack Reacher is jumping from page to screen in the heart-pounding series new on Prime Video this weekend. Based on Child’s novel series of the same name, this original crime thriller show tells the story of the titular character Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), a veteran military police investigator who is falsely accused of murder, and, as a result, is pulled into the center of a deadly conspiracy. The first season of the gripping Jack Reacher is based on Child’s first novel, Killing Floor, but fans of the novels and newcomers alike will love the hair-raising thrills the series will bring on.

New on HBO Max this weekend is the second season of the original series, Raised by Wolves. The sci-fi drama series from Oscar-winning producer Ridley Scott picks up again with the android couple Mother and Father (Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim) who have been tasked with raising six human children on a mysterious new planet. But as the atheist androids spend more time with their human wards, they find themselves becoming more and more human-like. The troubles for Mother and Father deepen as the growing human colony is deeply threatened to become completely torn apart by religion. Will the new world they are trying to build fall apart? Your burning questions may be answered in Raised by Wolves: Season 2.
